Here are some of Mr. Mimoudi Aziz’s observations regarding the course on the use of educational technologies and artificial intelligence, offered by the Institute of Education Sciences at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University.
This course, intended for doctoral students as well as educational administrators and teachers in the context of continuing education, had several objectives, one of which was to raise awareness among these education professionals about the application of the TPACK (Technological, Pedagogical Content Knowledge) framework, among other strategies, in the integration of educational technologies and artificial intelligence in schools, as well as the role of administrative leadership in this process.
The target audience, composed of education professionals and administrative leaders, was encouraged to apply the concepts explained in the course directly in their immediate environment through projects that required ongoing support. These participants demonstrated strong motivation and engagement in discovering and utilizing the potential of AI-assisted educational applications, particularly generative AI, especially in areas such as planning, content generation, images, videos, assessment, etc. We focused especially on the LLM ChatGPT, version 3.5, which is publicly accessible.
Thanks to the VOLCANIC project, we are currently in the phase of identifying the specific needs of teachers working in remote areas. Our goal is to adapt the course on the use of generative AI to meet the expectations and constraints of this population of teachers in rural settings, alongside other courses offered in the field of educational technology for in-service teachers in rural areas and those still in training.
In conclusion, although the use of AI, particularly generative AI, is still in its early stages in Morocco, we remain optimistic about the potential of this technology to support and enhance the work of education professionals with access to the internet.
Here are works of some students who applied what they studied about the TPACK framework and the use of generative AI in their classrooms and contexts.
