Members of the 3 Israeli partners visited the El Azazma Bedouin school in the Negev.
The visit was hosted by Mr. Yunes Hoashla director of the local PISGA center (A center for the development of teaching staffs) with the aim of becoming acquainted with the center’s activities and the hosting school.
Established 4 years ago the center, which serves a number of local authorities and reaches out to approximately 2,500 Bedouin teachers, works to advance processes of professional development and to adapt educational challenges to the Bedouin sector.
Among its various activities, the center conducts the following courses and training processes:
- Strengthening Educational Leadership – Entrepreneurship in Teaching: A program that has been running for two years and included 60 teachers
- Group Mentoring and guidance (in collaboration with Sakhnin College): A program granting an academic certificate.
- Internal Partnerships: forming work teams composed of the school principal, counselor, pedagogic coordinator, and content coordinators.
- External Partnerships: Partnering with academic institutions that grant academic certificates for participation in the training courses.
The meeting also included a talk with the school principal, Mr. Yihya El-Hamada, who proudly told the participants how he succeeded in upgrading the school’s physical conditions. He emphasized that this was made possible thanks to the parents and families who contributed both time and money for the school’s welfare, and added that funding from the authorities is almost impossible to obtain.
